Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal therapy is a general dentistry treatment that is broad in scope, used to resolve conditions such as gum disease, increased pocket depth, enlarged gums and a number of other oral health issues. There are both surgical and non-surgical options, depending severity of the problems you are facing. The therapy is ideal for patients who have suffered from repeated bouts of gingivitis, as it helps resolve the underlying issues that cause the disease to return.

Before any treatment begins, Dr. Walford will bring you in for a full assessment. She will take X-rays and identify the cause of the problem, and then a plan will be drawn up for the necessary treatment. We use state-of-the-art technology, which allows us to accurately determine the best application of periodontal therapy. Our diagnosis process, combined with our team's expertise, guarantees that you will receive the best dental treatment available anywhere.

Gum Infection Treatment

Most conditions that require the use of periodontal treatment are caused by gum disease. When gum disease advances beyond gingivitis, treatment options become more complicated. Not all dentists are able to treat patients for with serious gum disease, so the patient is referred to a periodontist. Obviously, as someone with a busy lifestyle, this approach is not an ideal option. We can treat all gum infections in-house.

To avoid the need for surgery, it is recommended that you address problems with your gums as soon as you notice a problem. Inaction will only allow the disease to spread and become more aggressive. However, if you seek treatment immediately, gum disease is much easier to treat. Symptoms to look out for are sore, red or swollen gums, breeding from the gums after brushing, receding gums, and previously healthy teeth becoming loose. Contact our office today if you suspect you may require periodontal therapy.
